Through this scheme 'Article Processing Charges' (APC) for publishing in selected good quality open access journals shall be provided to the journal publishers.

It is part of the recent Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) Act, an initiative by Government of India.
The initiative will grant access to a vast repository of knowledge contained in high-quality scholarly journals.
Approximately 1.8 crore students, faculty members, researchers, and scientists across all disciplines will benefit.
The scheme extends its reach to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, ensuring equitable access to academic resources.
By enabling access, the initiative aims to encourage core and interdisciplinary research, promoting innovation and academic excellence nationwide.

ONOS is a centralized system, so a centralized negotiation with publishers results better pricing.
No repeat subscription to be paid by any individual institute
Institutes with less funding for funding for subscription can extent the faculty to its researchers/ faculty members.

11. Timeline
- The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative will commence operations on 1st January 2025.
- Phase I of ONOS has been approved to cover the calendar years 2025, 2026, and 2027.
